My name is Jeff Godbold and this page is an ongoing blog of my life, adventures, and reptile-related projects. Here at Godbold Exotics, the health of the animals always comes first. We support the ongoing efforts of captive propagation, research, and rehabilitation of exotic reptiles. Through this channel, our hope is that our passion for reptiles will be seen by all, as well as educating the public about some of the misconceptions related to our cold-blooded neighbors. Mine is evil! It doesn’t matter how much I hold her. She got out of her enclosure and came into my room, climbed up the wall and was hanging out on my guitars, she was striking out words my face. She hates me. I have no idea why. She doesn’t try to bite anyone else and everyone BUT myself are scared to death of her. I have over 200 ball pythons and boas. She is the only snakes that try’s to bite me no matter what.

How is the market for ATBs now? I would like to get a pair eventually mostly for pets but would be nice to breed to cover my costs down the road.
I don’t pay much attention to the “market”. Amazon Tree Boas are my favorite species so that’s why I keep them. If you’re in it for money, I don’t know if I would pick ATB’s and I don’t know if I’m the best person to speak on breeding reptiles for monetary reasons. I’ll always keep Amazons regardless of the market. If you just want a pair as pets, then I can definitely help with that next year. I’m sold out for this year excluding my holdbacks. I also think it’s bad habit to project a ROI before babies are on the ground. But yes, if you’re successful in breeding them, it should cover your costs of acquiring the animals, cost of caging, and raising them to breeding size. And if you get a large enough litter, there should be some “play” money for you to acquire more animals or vacation, etc. But those are a lot of “ifs”. I would say, if Amazons fascinate you, like they do me, get some. Let the other stuff come after you get your feet wet with them. Who knows, you may not even like them, so that’s why I say, don’t get them if goal #1 is to breed them. Hope that helps :)
